Applications are invited for the position of Home Economics Teacher to provide Home Economics instruction to students following Junior Cycle Level 2 and Level 3 programmes in Our Lady of Fatima Special School.
Our Lady of Fatima Special School caters for students aged 4–18 years with a diagnosis of Mild General Learning Disability (MGLD). Many of our students also present with a dual diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other additional needs. The school provides a broad and inclusive curriculum encompassing the Primary Curriculum, Junior Cycle Levels 2 and 3, Senior Cycle Level 2, and the Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) Programme.
The successful candidate will work with small class groups at post-primary level, delivering practical and engaging Home Economics lessons tailored to the learning needs and abilities of our students.
Position Details:
Part-time specialist Home Economics hours.
Hours are granted by the Department of Education and Youth.
Teaching duties will primarily involve Junior Cycle students.
Experience of special education and inclusive teaching practices is desirable.
Knowledge of Junior Cycle Level 2 Learning Programmes and Junior Cycle Level 3 specifications would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
A commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching and learning.
Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
The ability to differentiate learning experiences to meet diverse student needs.
Excellent communication and collaborative skills, working effectively as part of the school team.
All appointments are subject to Teaching Council registration, Garda Vetting requirements, and Department of Education and Youth regulations.
