An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Brackloon NS invites applications for a 0.83 Special Needs Assistant position (Infant Day) for the 2026/27 school year.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
* A strong commitment to supporting pupils with additional care and educational needs in an inclusive school environment.
* The ability to build positive, respectful and caring relationships with pupils while promoting independence and wellbeing.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
* Flexibility, initiative and a willingness to adapt to the changing needs of pupils and the school.
* A positive, professional and child-centred approach to their work.
* Experience of supporting pupils with additional needs is desirable.
The position is for infant-day hours, with a daily attendance requirement of 8.30 a.m. to 1.50 p.m.
As part of national SNA terms and conditions, the successful candidate will be expected to fulfil the annual SNA flexible hours requirement on a pro-rata basis for a 0.83 post. Flexibility in relation to the scheduling of these hours throughout the school year is essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with class teachers, special education teachers, school management, parents and external professionals as appropriate, to support the needs of pupils and contribute positively to school life.
