An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
St. Oliver Plunkett national school offers a two year placement to mainstream pupils, aged 8-12 years, who are of average or above average intelligence and who have received a professional diagnosis of a specific reading difficulty (Dyslexia). The pupil:teacher ratio in the seven classes is 9:1
The successful candidate will ideally have prior experience teaching in a mainstream class/school, may have a special interest in teaching literacy, can work on their own initiative and integrate well with the friendly and engaged team of teachers on staff.
Please note that while a qualification in special education or to teach students with dyslexia is very welcome, it isn't a prerequisite for this teaching position. New teachers to our school will be given training in how best to support students with dyslexia. A new annual allowance of €2,525 is in place for teachers working in schools, with a special school designation.
